Position Description Summary/Purpose:
This is an entry-level professional position. It works under the general supervision of the Library Director, assisting in resource organization, technical troubleshooting, and with the library's outreach strategies. It performs a supporting role in assisting students, staff and faculty in retrieving physical and electronic materials. Primary working hours are evenings and some weekends.
Essential Job Functions/Primary Responsibilities:

- Receives oral or written directions from Library Director
- Executes work according to established library procedures
- Opens and closes library according to security procedures
- Attends the circulation desk on weekday evenings and three Saturdays each month
- Liaises with other Student Affairs staff in planning, attending, and assisting with the University's social events
- Assists with basic library circulation functions
- Assists students, staff and faculty with basic troubleshooting, i.e. connecting to WiFi, helping with room bookings, using smartboards, unjamming printers, etc
- Creates engaging displays that market library-provided materials
- Assists librarians in maintaining physical course reserves
- Pulls and shelves books as needed
- Conducts all work in a safe manner and all work safety practices are followed.
Other Functions:
- Performs similar or related work as required, directed or as situation permits
- Continues professional development and training; keeps current with trends
- Assists other department staff as needed to promote a team effort.

- Strong computer application and digital technology skills
- Familiarity with academic libraries
- Strong attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
- Ability to work effectively with other staff and desire to learn new skills
- Ability to understand and use the library services provided by the University's integrated library systems
