Job Advertisement\n \nCity of Portsmouth's Indoor Pool is looking for individuals willing to open the pool for 5am start time. We are flexible with other hours during the week and weekends! The purpose of this position is to perform professional work in the safety and use of the Portsmouth Indoor Pool. Monitors activities in aquatic areas to prevent accidents and provide assistance to patrons while performing directly related work as required. Maintain effective working relationships with supervisors other City employees and the public. If chosen for an interview candidates will need to pass a preliminary CPR and swim test. The swim test includes: 1. Swim 300 yards continuously 2. Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs 3. Complete a timed event within 1 minute 40 seconds by starting in the water swimming 20 yards surface dive to a depth of 12 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object return to the surface and swim 20 years on the back to return to the starting point exit the water without using steps or a ladder. \n \nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\n \nThe essential functions or duties listed below are intended only as illustration of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if work is similar; related; or a logical assignment to; or extension of; the position.\n\n Maintains order at facility; including enforcing rules and resolving minor conflicts.\n \n\n Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the facility; recognize and respond to an emergency in under 30 seconds and secure safety of patron in the event of an emergency.\n \n\n Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.\n \n\n Accident prevention where adherence to pool rules is required.\n \n\n Presents professional appearance and attitude at all times; and maintains a high standard of customer service.\n \n\n Respond to patron questions and comments in a courteous and timely manner.\n \n\n Front desk operations; will be trained by supervisor to use point of sale system; answering phone calls; taking registrations; and collection of payments (cash; checks; and credit card).\n \n\n Performs various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.\n \n\n Prepares and maintains appropriate activity reports.\n \n\n Communicates and coordinates regularly with appropriate others to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of interdepartmental operations and activities.\n \n\n Keeps immediate supervisor and designated others fully and accurately informed concerning work progress; including present and potential work problems and suggestions for new or improved ways of addressing such problems.\n \n\n Attends meetings; and in-service training sessions to become or remain current on the principles; practices and new developments in assigned work areas.\n \n\n Monitor water quality of the pool & spa by using chemical testing kit in according with NH public bathing code. Report to supervisor or Certified Pool Operator; if water testing is out of range.\n \n\n Perform related work as required. \n \nMINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS\n \nCurrent American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification is required for this position.
