SALARY

$38.40/hour contractual with no benefits

HOURS

Up to 29 hours per week. Available during normal school day and/or afterschool.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid Maryland State Department of Education teaching license.
  • At least five (5) years of successful teaching experience.
  • Experience in designing/presenting in-services, workshops, and other types of professional development.
  • Excellent classroom management skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills/human relation skills.
  • Excellent team-player.
  • Displays initiative in carrying out duties/responsibilities.
  • Awareness of operations of Wicomico County school system.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Basic responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist the Department of Professional Development with the New Teacher Induction Program.
  • Assist in the execution of the New Teacher Summer Academy in mid-August.
  • Assist in teaching the New Teacher Induction Course to new teachers, once a month, after-school hours.
  • Model effective instructional approaches.
  • Provide support and training on classroom management, problem solving, conflict resolution, and cultural diversity.
  • Provide new/non-tenured teachers with coaching and specific feedback on classroom performance.
  • Conduct needs assessment to determine the training/resources that new/non-tenured teachers require.
  • Co-plan, team teach, and model lessons for new/non-tenured teachers.
  • Assist new teachers with curriculum implementation.
  • Analyze test data and other performance measures to assist new teachers with curriculum implementation.
  • Monitor the professional growth/development, and the certification/licensure process of new teachers.
