Description
College of The Albemarle (COA) welcomes applications from qualified individuals interested in adjunct (part-time) Nursing Faculty opportunities. Adjunct faculty appointments are made on a semester-by-semester, course-by-course, and/or as-needed basis to support instructional and clinical program needs. Adjunct positions are temporary, part-time assignments and are not eligible for employee benefits.
This posting is intended to establish and maintain a pool of qualified applicants from which hiring managers may select candidates as instructional needs arise. Submission of an application does not guarantee an interview, employment, or assignment.
Applicants must be able to accommodate a flexible work schedule, which may include daytime, evening, weekend, classroom, laboratory, clinical, hybrid, and online instructional assignments. Limited travel within the Colleges service area and to affiliated clinical sites may be required.
Assignments are contingent upon enrollment, program needs, funding availability, credential verification, and compliance with applicable regulatory and accreditation requirements.

Job Summary:
The role of Part-Time Nursing Faculty is to provide knowledge in his/her field of expertise and to promote various student-centered learning activities that will stimulate an interest in critical thinking and a desire for life-long learning.
Various teaching strategies, learning styles, and delivery methods, including new technology systems will be utilized to reach this goal.

Examples of Duties
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare, teach, facilitate, and evaluate assigned courses in classroom, laboratory, clinical, hybrid, and online settings.
Develop and maintain course materials, syllabi, lesson plans, assessments, and instructional resources that align with approved curriculum standards.
Utilize effective teaching methodologies and instructional technologies to support student engagement and learning outcomes.
Evaluate student performance and provide timely feedback regarding academic and clinical progress.
Maintain accurate attendance, grade, and student records in accordance with College requirements.
Submit reports, grades, and other required documentation accurately and within established deadlines.
Maintain current knowledge of developments, trends, standards, and best practices within the assigned healthcare discipline.
Promote a safe learning environment and ensure compliance with applicable safety standards, infection control practices, and laboratory procedures.
Adhere to College policies, procedures, and instructional requirements.
Comply with clinical agency policies and maintain eligibility to participate in clinical education activities.
Participate in program, departmental, and institutional meetings and activities as assigned.
Assist with curriculum review, assessment activities, accreditation requirements, and continuous program improvement efforts as appropriate.
Refer students to appropriate academic support services when necessary.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Typical Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate Degree Nursing (ADN)
Required:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from a regionally accredited college or university.
Current, unrestricted North Carolina Registered Nurse license.
Current Healthcare Provider CPR/BLS certification.
Minimum of two (2) years (4,000 hours) of clinical nursing experience as a Registered Nurse.
Preferred:
Master of Science in Nursing (MSN).
Previous teaching experience in nursing education.
Practical Nursing (PN)
Required:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from a regionally accredited college or university.
Current, unrestricted North Carolina Registered Nurse license.
Current Healthcare Provider CPR/BLS certification.
Minimum of two (2) years (4,000 hours) of clinical nursing experience as a Registered Nurse.
Preferred:
Master of Science in Nursing (MSN).
Previous teaching experience in nursing education.
Nurse Aide I & II
Required:
Associate's Degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited college or university.
Current, unrestricted North Carolina Registered Nurse license.
Current Healthcare Provider CPR/BLS certification.
Minimum of two (2) years (4,000 hours) of experience as a Registered Nurse.
Completion of a course in teaching adults; or
Experience teaching adults; or
Experience supervising nurse aides.
Preferred:
Bachelors degree in Nursing or related healthcare field.
Previous Nurse Aide instructional experience.
Instructor, Medication Aide
Required:
Associate's Degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited college or university.
Current, unrestricted North Carolina Registered Nurse license.

Working Conditions
Work is performed in classroom, laboratory, clinical, simulation, office, and online instructional environments. Assignments may require travel between campus locations and affiliated clinical agencies. Evening, weekend, and off-site instructional assignments may be required based on program needs.
Physical Requirements
Work requires standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting instructional materials and equipment, demonstrating clinical skills, and operating standard office and instructional technology equipment. Faculty must be able to safely perform and demonstrate healthcare-related procedures and meet clinical agency requirements necessary for participation in clinical instruction.
