(Please note: Although the job type is listed as "temporary, part-time", there is no set end date for this position.)
We are seeking an individual who likes to interact with the community and ensure that City facilities are safe, clean, and well maintained. Take pride in your work and make a difference in your community as a Parks and Facilities Attendant at the City of Moorpark.
The Parks and Facilities Attendant (PFA) attends to Parks, performs custodian duties associated with use of the Citys parks and facilities, and performs minor maintenance and repairs to City streets, buildings, and facilities. Duties may also include locking or unlocking parks, setting up for meetings and rental events, sport field preparations, and other activities. See the Typical Duties section below for information. The PFA works evenings, weekends, and/or holidays with weekly hours ranging from 12 - 18 hours per week. The position is part-time and not overtime exempt.
Parks and Facilities Attendant I - This is the entry-level class in the Parks and Facilities Attendant series, although some skills in custodial and/or maintenance is preferred. This class is distinguished from the Parks and Facilities Attendant II by the absence of directly-related work experience.
Parks and Facilities Attendant II - This is the journey level class in the Parks and Facilities Attendant series. This class is distinguished from the Parks and Facilities Attendant III by the performance of the more routine tasks and duties assigned to positions within the series. Employees in this class have related work experience.
Parks and Facilities Attendant III - This is the advanced journey level class within the Parks and Facilities Attendant series. Employees within this class are distinguished from the Parks and Facilities Attendant II by the performance of the full range of duties as assigned including the more difficult customer service, maintenance, and custodial tasks. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise, and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and are normally filled by advancement from the II level, or when filled from the outside, applicants must have prior related experience.

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Parks and Facilities Attendant I: One year of experience performing facility attendant, laborer, or custodian work is desirable; equivalent to the completion of the tenth grade.
Parks and Facilities Attendant II: No less than 1,800 hours of related experience performing facility attendant, laborer, or custodian work; equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.
Parks and Facilities Attendant III: No less than 2,700 hours of related experience performing facility attendant, laborer,or custodian work; equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.
License Requirement for All Positions: Possession of or ability to obtain and maintain an appropriate, valid California drivers license.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements: Field environment; frequent exposure to outside atmospheric conditions; exposure to noise, dust, grease, smoke, fumes, gases, or other atmospheric conditions that may affect the respiratory system, eyes or skin; work around moving mechanical parts of equipment, tools or machinery; work in high, exposed places; work on slippery or uneven surfaces. Essential functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting, standing, or walking for prolonged periods of time; operating motorized vehicles; medium to heavy lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling; climbing; balancing; stooping; kneeling; crouching; crawling; reaching; handling; use of fingers; talking; hearing; near and far acuity; depth perception; exposure to heat, noise, outdoors, vibration, confined work space, chemicals, dust, explosive materials, mechanical hazards, and electrical hazards.
