Description
The City and County of Broomfield is hiring for a part time Parks Technician II on the Structures crew.

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented individual to inspect, maintain, repair, and install a variety of park amenities throughout the City and County of Broomfield Parks and Open Space system. Responsibilities include upkeep of benches, trash receptacles, picnic tables, lighting fixtures, dog stations, signs, grills, memorials, pond aeration systems, fences, docks, pergolas, public art, and other park features. Additional duties involve maintaining park shelters, restrooms, and buildings, performing plumbing repairs, winterization tasks, and handling electrical work on 120v circuits, including lights and appliances. This role also includes preparing park shelters for reservations, ensuring they are ready prior to scheduled events.

Essential Required Tasks/Examples of Duties

Skill in understanding and responding to customer needs
Ability to analyze and solve technical problems pertaining to respective specialty area within the Park Division
Skill in the routine operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and tools used in assigned maintenance operations
Assists in snow removal operations during inclement weather, and is available for snow control duties after hours and on weekends.
The installation and repair of all park shelters and amenities.
Performing safety inspections and repairs to playgrounds and equipment.
Repairing and maintaining park assets such as painting,picnic tables, park benches, and graffiti removal.
Shelter Preparation and cleaning for rentals.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Experience
1 year experience required in parks maintenance
1 year experience preferred in supervision of seasonal labor, volunteers, or part time positions
Years of related experience may be substituted for required education, however education cannot be substituted for the necessary work experience. Candidates must meet the minimum required years of work experience.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (in addition to above requirements):
New hires must, as a condition of employment, pass the following pre-offer and post-offer/hire processes: in-person or virtual interviews, pre-employment physical, reference checks, and background checks, which may include local police check and sex-offender registry.
If this position is required to drive a CCOB vehicle a DMV check will be required.
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and safe driving record for continued employment
Working Conditions
Duties require a full range of physical motion and activities including manual digging, pushing, pulling, lifting, twisting and turning the upper body, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, balancing, crawling, reaching for objects, walking and standing.
The incumbent must also be alert to peripheral activities when operating equipment and therefore must have a full range of movement in the neck and shoulders.
Perform all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
Physical demands are described as medium (exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects).
Duties require a full range of physical motion and activities including manual labor.
Work is generally scheduled Monday through Friday with some weekend and holiday work required
Required On-Call responsibilities
Required to work special events on holidays, weekends, and outside normally scheduled working hours
Regular contact is made with employees in other departments and the public.

This position is generally scheduled 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Monday - Friday. Hours could vary based on weather and department needs. Please list any days or times you are not available to work during the season on a regularly scheduled basis.

This position requires Snow Control Operations that is compensated through on-call pay, regular pay, and/or overtime pay. During a snow event we report to work at 4:00am on weekdays, weekends and/or holidays. Are you able to work these early or irregular hours during snow events?
