Part-Time / Per Diem Seamstress

Van Cleve Bridal & Evening is seeking an experienced
part-time Seamstress to provide additional support to our
Primary Seamstress in our luxury bridal and eveningwear boutique.
This is an approximately
15-hour-per-week, hourly position on a per-diem or seasonal basis. The schedule will be based on the needs of the business and the candidate’s availability.
We are looking for someone who takes pride in their craftsmanship, has excellent attention to detail, and is comfortable working with a variety of fabrics and garments. This role will include both alterations work and working directly with clients during fittings.
Responsibilities
- Support our Primary Seamstresses with day-to-day alterations and fittings
- Meet with clients to assess fit, discuss alterations, and provide a warm, professional experience
- Pin and fit bridal gowns, eveningwear, and formal garments
- Perform alterations using both machine sewing and hand-sewing techniques
- Complete hems, bustles, closures, adjustments, and other garment modifications
- Work with delicate fabrics, lace, beading, appliqués, and other specialty materials
- Steam and press gowns and garments for fittings and final pickup
- Assist with finishing and detailed handwork
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional alterations workspace
- Work closely with our Primary Seamstresses and bridal/eveningwear team to ensure quality workmanship and an exceptional client experience
Qualifications
- Professional experience performing garment alterations is required
- Experience with bridal gowns and/or formalwear is highly preferred
- Strong machine-sewing and hand-sewing skills
- Comfortable working with delicate and specialty fabrics
- Excellent attention to detail and pride in craftsmanship
- Ability to accurately pin, fit, and assess garments
- Comfortable working directly with clients during fittings
- Reliable, organized, and able to work independently
- Professional, friendly, and client-focused demeanor
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
