Location: Los Angeles area – In Person
Schedule: Monday & Wednesday
Hours: 10:00 AM–2:30 PM
Pay: $25/hour – 4 paid hours per day ($100/day)
Lunch: 30-minute unpaid lunch break

We are looking for a positive, engaging, and dependable private homeschool teacher to work with two children, ages 8 and 11, two days per week as part of a hybrid homeschool/school program.

The children attend school Thursday and Friday. Their school provides the math and English curriculum and instruction to follow. Mondays and Wednesdays will focus on science, geography/history, and creative, hands-on learning. Lessons and activities should be appropriately adapted to each child’s age, grade level, learning style, and individual needs.

Lessons should be approximately 50 minutes, followed by a 10-minute transition/break between subjects.

We want learning to go beyond worksheets. Science experiments, building activities, presentations, research projects, geography activities, games, and other creative learning experiences are encouraged.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Follow the math and English curriculum and guidance provided by the children’s school, as needed
• Plan and teach age-appropriate science, geography/history, and hands-on lessons for two children
• Differentiate instruction for the 8-year-old and 11-year-old
• Monitor each child’s academic progress and engagement
• Identify areas where additional support or enrichment is needed
• Incorporate hands-on and creative learning
• Help maintain an organized curriculum and learning plan
• Encourage independence, curiosity, and critical thinking
• Foster a positive, respectful, and collaborative learning environment
• Provide parents with a brief weekly progress update

IDEAL CANDIDATE

• Experience teaching or tutoring elementary- and middle-school-aged children
• Experience working with multiple children at different grade levels
• Strong science, geography/history, and general academic skills
• Comfortable following an existing math and English curriculum
• Patient, positive, creative, and dependable
• Able to plan lessons independently and adjust instruction as needed
• Enjoys hands-on and project-based learning
• Excellent communication skills

Current/former teachers, homeschool educators, education majors, and experienced tutors are encouraged to apply.

Teaching credentials are a plus but are not required for a strong candidate.
