Position Summary

We are seeking a reliable Part-Time Shop Assistant to support our technicians with daily machine rebuild and shop operations. This hands-on position plays a key role in cleaning, disassembly, inspection preparation, and overall shop organization. It’s an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with their hands and wants to build mechanical skills in a professional shop environment, with room to grow over time.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist technicians with disassembly and reassembly of CNC equipment and industrial machinery
• Clean and prepare parts using solvents, parts washers, and ultrasonic cleaning systems
• Organize, label, and stage components for rebuild and repair jobs
• Support bearing removal and installation preparation
• Operate basic shop equipment and hand tools (presses, wrenches, etc.)
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
• Assist with shipping and receiving, including packing and unpacking parts and cores
• Follow all shop procedures and safety guidelines
• Help keep the shop clean and well organized

Basic Skills & Requirements

• Strong mechanical aptitude and enjoys hands-on work
• Ability to lift 30–50 lbs safely
• Comfortable using basic hand tools
• Dependable and punctual
• Willingness to learn and take direction
• High attention to detail (critical for this role)
• Reliable transportation

Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)

• Experience in a machine shop, manufacturing, or automotive repair environment
• Familiarity with bearings, shafts, or precision mechanical components
• Basic knowledge of measuring tools such as calipers or micrometers
