The Abington Middle School Spanish Teacher (0.4) will be responsible for teaching our district World Language curriculum in which students explore Spanish in alignment with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks. This position is part time at 0.4 FTE. The ideal candidate:
- Demonstrates a depth of content knowledge and understanding.
- Employs instructional strategies that support students' attainment of ACTFL proficiency-based learning targets rather than rote memorization.
- Designs lessons that accommodate multiple learning styles.
- Aligns lesson objectives with school and state standards, as identified on curriculum maps.
- Adapts curriculum/instruction/assessment in accordance with student IEPs and 504 plans.
- Interacts respectfully with all students.
- Holds all students accountable to high expectations for achievement and growth.
- Establishes effective classroom routines and procedures.
- Communicates clearly and effectively through speech and writing.
- Incorporates questioning strategies to improve student thinking and learning.
- Facilitates engaging and inclusive classroom discussion.
- Varies instruction to accommodate different learning styles.
- Provides ongoing, timely, and useful feedback to students.
