Job Description Summary
Since there is no full-time equivalent, employees in this title may work no more than fourteen (14) hours per week. Level 1 certification is required.
Required Education
High school diploma or GED
Required Experience
Certification required either through the state of Texas or the National Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf.
Must reflect fluency in American Sign Language and/or Signed English to maintain effective communication with students and college personnel. Copies of transcripts/license/certifications must be submitted with application.
Preferred Education
Bachelor's degree
Preferred Experience
Certification the the Board of Evaluators for Interpreters.
College training in interpreting or American Sign Language preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide sign language interpreting services to students and personnel working in conjunction with other full and part-time interpreters.
This may include classroom, lab instruction, tutoring, and/or extra-curricular activities.
