ABOUT

Move Crew Team Members perform operational functions with facilities on campus and furniture in the residence halls. Staff are expected to be able to work with limited supervision, using independent judgment and initiative to provide excellent customer service assistance to students, visitors, Residential Life & Housing staff, and other College constituents. Move Crew Team Members develop strong communication skills, customer service, teamwork, and serve as a resource for campus information, and other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Hours of work vary throughout the summer months.

This is a part-time position and can work up to 18 hours per week.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and DUTIES

  • Assist with Housing and Residential Life & Housing furniture and equipment deliveries.
  • Move large items or furniture within and around campus.
  • Repair residential furniture and perform painting and minor maintenance of walls, doors, and other interior and exterior surfaces to prepare units for student move-in.
  • Assist with camps, guests, and conference facility preparation.
  • Tracking and maintenance of Housing furniture inventory.
  • Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality at all scheduled work shifts, meetings, and trainings.
  • Abide by Residential Life & Housing, Student Code, and other college policies, conditions, and guidelines.
  • Create positive relationships with residents and other TJC staff members.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor(s).

Work Environment: Primarily outdoor work in all conditions, regularly working outside normal business hours (including evenings, weekends, and holidays).

Physical Demands: Prolonged standing and walking, frequent reaching, bending, and climbing stairs. Regularly pushing and lifting up to 100 pounds, and exposure to loud noises (construction).

Travel Required: Yes - approximately 50%. Travel includes operating golf carts, college trucks, van and U-Hauls on the main campus.

If travel is required, the candidate must have and maintain a current, valid Texas driver's license and an acceptable driving record.

Required Education/Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of basic residential painting practices, including surface preparation and application, or ability and willingness to complete TJC-sponsored training to develop this skill.

RETIREMENT

Part-Time Retirement

Part-time employees are required to participate in the part-time retirement fund. The retirement fund is invested in a group fixed annuity contract with Ohio National Life Insurance Company. The plan will provide you and your beneficiary with fully vested cash settlement or income benefits after termination of employment for any reason.

Employees may utilize the Vaughn Library and Learning Resource Center.

Employee and immediate family use of the Apache Recreation Center - an indoor weight and exercise center, 18-hole disc golf course, covered basketball course, and outdoor ping-pong table and cornhole. The cost is $5 per ID.
