Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities • Serves library users at the circulation desk by doing the following: • Charging and discharging library materials. • Collecting fines. • Assisting public with access to remote online services such as research databases. • Use library computer system for various circulation services and functions. • Provide general information to library users regarding overall library services. • Provide basic computer and print support. • Shelve library materials and perform basic stack maintenance. • Understand, communicate, and enforce the Librarys circulation policies and procedures. • Regular attendance on campus is required for this position. • Other duties as assigned.
Hours Schedule This position will work a maximum of 19 hours per week Late afternoon & Evening hours Weekend hours August - May
Physical Demands Ability to bend, reach, and lift tubs of books weighing up to 40 pounds.
Minimum Qualifications Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Demonstrated customer service skills • High school graduate or GED equivalent plus 15 credits of higher education • Six or more months of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience • Knowledge of or ability to learn and use Library of Congress Classification System • Demonstrated ability in spelling, basic math, and accurate record-keeping • Accurate alphabetical and numerical filing • Telephone etiquette and data entry skills • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills • Excellent problem-solving skills, resourcefulness, and the ability to prioritize and balance competing needs in a rapid-demand environment • Ability to complete unsupervised tasks, work independently, and as part of a team • Ability to bend, reach, and lift tubs of books weighing up to 40 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications Additional Preferred Qualifications • Basic knowledge of library procedures and practices.
