Position Title: Part-Time Technology Teacher - Elementary Grades

FLSA Status: Exempt

Schedule: Part-Time (One Day/Week)


Position Purpose: The Part-Time Technology Teacher plans and delivers engaging, developmentally appropriate technology instruction to students in Elementary classes one day per week. The teacher helps students build digital literacy, practical technology skills, problem-solving abilities, and responsible technology habits through hands-on learning experiences that foster curiosity, creativity, independence, and digital citizenship. 

Job Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities:

Technology Instruction & Digital Citizenship: The Technology teacher will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate technology lessons for Elementary classes
  • Build students’ proficiency with computers, digital tools, productivity applications, research, and multimedia creation.
  • Introduce age-appropriate coding, computational thinking, digital design, and problem-solving.
  • Teach digital citizenship, including online safety, privacy, respectful communication, copyright, attribution, and evaluation of online information.
  • Provide hands-on opportunities for students to apply technology skills through projects and authentic problem-solving.
  • Differentiate instruction based on students’ technology experience and learning needs.
  • Incorporate student choice, creativity, exploration, and independence consistent with Montessori principles.

Student Learning & Classroom Environment: The Technology teacher will:

  • Establish clear learning objectives and monitor student growth through projects, demonstrations, observation, and other appropriate methods.
  • Provide actionable feedback that builds student independence and proficiency.
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, structured, and productive learning environment.
  • Establish efficient routines for accessing, using, caring for, and returning technology and equipment.
  • Reinforce school-wide expectations for behavior, collaboration, and responsible technology use.

Collaboration and Professional Responsibilities: The Technology teacher will:

  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to connect technology instruction to classroom learning when appropriate.
  • Communicate student progress, needs, or concerns to classroom teachers as needed.
  • Coordinate with school leaders regarding instructional technology and resources.
  • Participate in relevant planning, professional learning, meetings, and school events appropriate to the part-time role.
  • Contribute positively to the collaborative culture of RVCS.

Essential Functions: The essential functions of the Part-Time Technology teacher position include, but are not limited to:

  • Planning and delivering technology instruction to Elementary students one day per week.
  • Preparing instructional materials, technology, and digital resources in advance of lessons.
  • Providing direct instruction, modeling, guided practice, and opportunities for independent application.
  • Supervising students and maintaining a safe and productive learning environment.
  • Differentiating instruction for a range of student learning needs and technology proficiency levels.
  • Monitoring student progress and maintaining appropriate instructional records.
  • Managing and organizing technology equipment and instructional materials used during classes.
  • Collaborating effectively with classroom teachers and other school staff.
  • Communicating clearly and professionally with students, colleagues, and families as appropriate.
  • Maintaining regular and reliable attendance consistent with the established part-time schedule.

  • Lessons are engaging, well-structured, appropriately rigorous, and provide meaningful opportunities for students to practice and apply technology skills.

  • Students demonstrate increasing proficiency, independence, problem-solving, and responsible technology use. 

Classroom Systems and Environment

  • Clear routines, effective classroom management, and organized materials maximize instructional time and student engagement.   

Professional Responsibilities

  • Teacher communicates and collaborates effectively, is reliable and organized, responds to feedback, and contributes positively to school culture.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Experience teaching technology, computer science, digital literacy, STEM, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience working with Elementary students strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with educational technology and digital productivity tools.
  • Knowledge of digital citizenship, online safety, and responsible technology use.
  • Ability to design engaging, hands-on instruction for students with varying levels of technology proficiency.
  • Strong classroom management, communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
    Massachusetts educator licensure, or ability to obtain licensure, where applicable.
