ROLE AND PURPOSE Push inPull out tutors facilitate intervention support to ensure students are thinking critically, problem solving, and mastering the content taught in the classroom as defined by the TEKS.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education Certification Official High School Diploma or equivalent Currently enrolled in college, university preferred or degree earned Currently enrolled in a college/university program working towards an education degree preferred
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGESKILLS
Ability to communicate effectively with elementary, middle, and/or high school students Ability to motivate students Strong Math and Language Arts background Ability to work cooperatively with others Good communication and interpersonal skills Ability to support students development of digital literacy skills Ability to support students ownership of learning and preparation for future online learning opportunities
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
I. Instructional Support
• Build a rapport with students, other tutors, and faculty • Be positive and professional at all times • Actively participate in collaborative groups and tutorials • Assist students with organization • Set an example of personal excellence and high expectations for students to follow • Assist students by being familiar with textbooks and materials and classroom resources • Inform designated campus administrator of any absences prior to the beginning of the school day • Follow all policies, rules, and procedures to which regular district staff is subject and to which good practices dictate • Assist students through inquiry and facilitation • Provide the students with opportunities to check their understanding of the solution process as well as the opportunity to process new knowledge
II. Working Conditions
MENTAL DEMANDS Work with frequent interruptions, maintain emotional control under stress.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS Moderate standing, occasional kneeling, squatting, bending, and stooping Motion: Moderate walking Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying less than 15 pounds

Additional Job Information This is a part-time position working 20 hours per week.
