Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Part-Time Transportation Assistant - Brooklyn.

In this role, the successful candidate Transportation Assistant is responsible for providing safe and reliable transportation services for older adults participating in programs offered by the Family Health Centers' older adult centers and the social adult day care program. The role includes operating program vehicles, assisting clients with mobility needs, maintaining vehicle records, coordinating schedules, and responding promptly to emergencies.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Operate program vehicles to transport older adults participating in the Family Health Centers' older adult centers and social adult day care program in a safe and courteous manner
  • Pick up and drop off program participants according to the schedules and routes
  • Assist passengers, including those with disabilities, with boarding and exiting the vehicle safely, using lifts and ramps as needed
  • Coordinate and schedule vehicle maintenance schedules in collaboration with the supervisor
  • Collaborate with the supervisor and colleagues to plan and coordinate trip schedules
  • Prepare and maintain complete and accurate driving logs, milage, fuel, maintenance, passenger and other records
  • Ensure that vehicles are safe, clean, and maintained in good working condition
  • Respond immediately to emergencies by notifying the supervisor and emergency response providers
  • Communicate effectively with program staff, clients and their caregivers
  • Participate in training sessions and certifications as required
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a - High school diploma
- Valid drivers license
- Three years of licensed driving experience
- No convictions for driving while intoxicated or driving while impaired by drugs
- No more than one moving violation within the past two years
- Ability to operate lift-equipped vehicles and provide physical assistance to passengers as needed.

Required Licenses: Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with older adults and individuals with disabilities

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $18.02 - $30.49 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
