The Silver Lake Regional School District is seeking a Part Time Treasurer to join the business team as soon as possible.

The main areas of the treasurer''s responsibilities are to process and manage the cash, banking services, and financing, including borrowing, functions of the District. The main treasurer''s responsibilities are prescribed in various chapters and sections of State Law; Chs. 41, 44, 71.

This part time position is a year round position & approximately 10 hours per month at $50 per hour.

Treasurer''s Responsibilities:

  • Maintain custody of all funds, including capital project, stabilization, and student activity funds, and be responsible for depositing, investing, and disbursing monies for all District funds.
  • Establish a uniform system of forms and procedures for all collection, deposit, and disbursement activities.
  • Manage the district''s resources to ensure the availability of cash to pay obligations as they become due.
  • Sign checks for the District''s payroll and vendor operations, as well as the transferring of District funds to cover these expenditures.
  • Use electronic fund transfers to make all federal tax and MA tax deposits in accordance with the schedules in IRS regulations and MA laws, Ch 62C, section 10.
  • Reconcile cash accounts monthly.
  • Annually prepare bank account and debt record information for reporting to the MA Department of Revenue and the District auditing firm.
  • Certify the budgetary assessments to the member town treasurers.
  • Proficient in Tyler/ Munis, and other similar software that is necessary to efficiently and effectively perform the job.
  • Upon authorization of both short-term and long-term debt, issue notes and bonds for the acquisition of capital assets and paying for the construction and repair of infrastructure. The treasurer works with the district''s financial advisor, bond counsel, rating agencies, and other local officials to prepare the necessary documents. General Law Ch. 44 Sections 7 to 9, and Sections 16 to 20, set out the rules and procedures regarding borrowing.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. In addition, the employee must be able to rotate the neck frequently, extend hands/arms overhead, and turn fully from a fixed stance.
