General Statement
Under limited supervision, collecting waste disposal fees and maintaining a neat, organized collection site. Directs the flow of traffic in the site and provides information to customers. Must have good customer service skills and be able to work in all types of weather. Reports to the Union County Solid Waste Collections Supervisor.
Essential Functions
Assists customers by identifying solid waste material type, determining appropriate cost, and appropriate disposal.
Distinguishes waste material from recyclable materials and offers instruction to customers as to proper sorting and disposal.
Maintains clean work station at the convenience center.
Distinguishes refuse from recyclable materials and offers instruction to customers as to proper sorting and disposal.
Maintains clean workstation.
Calculates garbage fee totals (on the spot) and makes correct change to customers. Counts cash collected and keeps daily log.
Responds to customer inquiries and provides information regarding items acceptable and unacceptable at the Union County Convenience Centers at the Solid Waste Management Facility.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or an acceptable equivalency diploma (GED).
Licenses or Certifications:
Must have a valid Drivers License and be able to maintain a safe driving history as defined by the Union County Vehicle Use Policy.
Special Requirements:
Works various shifts including weekends and holidays as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be physically able to operate a calculators. Must be able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Sedentary Work. Light work usually requires walking or standing to a significant degree and light lifting. However, if the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work, the job is rated for Light Work.
