The position is part-time and route-based. The selected individual will conduct biweekly, monthly, and annual sampling activities and deliver collected samples to a California Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program, or CA ELAP, certified laboratory.

The successful candidate must be dependable, detail-oriented, familiar with drinking-water sampling procedures, and capable of maintaining accurate chain-of-custody and site-log documentation.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Collect bacteriological and drinking-water samples from the Circle X and Arroyo Sequit water systems.
  • Conduct biweekly coliform sampling at designated system locations.
  • Collect monthly raw-water bacteriological samples.
  • Collect THM, HAA5, nitrate, nitrite, and other required compliance samples according to the approved sampling schedule.
  • Conduct field chlorine-residual testing during distribution-system sampling.
  • Verify and document chlorine readings on the chain-of-custody form and in the applicable well-house log.
  • Properly label, preserve, store, and transport samples in accordance with regulatory and laboratory requirements.

  • Complete accurate chain-of-custody documentation for each sample.
  • Record sampling dates, times, locations, test results, and other required information in site logs.

  • Perform repeat or corrective sampling when authorized and required.
