    Jobs for Ohio’s Graduates (JOG) is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and organized Part-Time Workforce Development Specialist to support young adults with disabilities as they prepare for and pursue meaningful employment.

     

    In partnership with Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD), this position provides individualized employment and transition services, which may include Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS), Summer Youth Work Experience (SYWE), and Job Search services.

     

    What You’ll Do

    • Provide individualized coaching, mentoring, and workplace-readiness instruction.
    • Help participants strengthen communication, self-advocacy, employment, and job-retention skills.
    • Assist with resumes, job applications, interview preparation, employer communication, and follow-up.
    • Support participants in understanding workplace expectations and job responsibilities.
    • Encourage independence by gradually reducing support as participants develop their skills.
    • Communicate regularly with participants, employers, families, schools, OOD counselors, community partners, and JOG team members.
    • Help identify and address barriers, attendance concerns, workplace challenges, and other issues affecting participant success.
    • Maintain accurate and timely case notes, participant records, service reports, and other required documentation.
    • Track skill development, services provided, worksite progress, job-search activities, and employment outcomes.
    • Follow all JOG and OOD program guidelines, documentation standards, and reporting requirements.
    • Help maintain safe, inclusive, and supportive environments at schools, worksites, JOG offices, and community locations.

     

    Required Qualifications

    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Availability to work up to 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
    • Flexibility to work a variable schedule based on participant needs.
    • Reliable transportation and the ability to travel to assigned schools, worksites, JOG offices, and community locations.
    • Ability to successfully complete all required background checks.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently, stay organized, and maintain accurate documentation.
    • Sound judgment, problem-solving skills, and appropriate professional boundaries.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • College coursework or a degree in human services, education, workforce development, social work, rehabilitation services, or a related field.
    • Experience supporting youth or young adults with disabilities or other barriers to employment.
    • Experience in job coaching, workforce development, Pre-ETS, SYWE, OOD services, or a related program.

    The successful candidate will be patient, encouraging, and committed to helping young adults build confidence and achieve positive employment outcomes. This position requires someone who can develop strong relationships, respond effectively to changing participant needs, and balance meaningful participant support with timely and accurate documentation.

     

    Position Type: Part-time, up to 20 hours per week
    Schedule: Monday–Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.; hours vary based on participant needs
    Travel: Local travel to assigned service locations is required
    Reports To: Director of Special Projects
