Description
OVERVIEW: The Parts Consultant is responsible for providing support to the Parts Manager and parts staff. Responsibilities include providing superior customer service and ensuring the smooth operation of the parts department through receiving, stocking and distributing equipment and parts to other departments. The Parts Consultant is also responsible for the appearance of the Parts Department and Ship's Store.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serve the internal or external customer in a professional and knowledgeable manner.
Perform stocking, issuing, receiving and inventory control functions including cycle counts.
Sort and place materials and parts on racks, shelves, or in bins.
Maintain a clean and professional store and parts department.
Enter parts inventory information through use of IDS.
Place price tags as appropriate on merchandise
Complete order form and place orders with vendors and manufacturers as directed by Parts Manager.
Read production schedule, customer order, work order, shipping order, or requisition to determine items to be moved or distributed.
Maintain good working relationships with factory and vendors as they relate to product and quality control.
Special order merchandise as necessary while working with customer for best price
Prepare special sales and clearance displays to move product
Answer customers questions concerning products
Inform technicians and customers of arrival of special-order parts.
Carefully check invoices against work orders.
Keep parts catalogs up to date.
Any other duties as assigned
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Physical requirements for a Parts Consultant are physically demanding, focusing on stamina, heavy lifting, and the ability to work in awkward, cramped positions. Key physical demands include:
Lifting and Carrying: The ability to lift, push, pull, or carry heavy objects, often more than 50 pounds.
Physical Stamina: Ability to stand and walk for long periods, sometimes up to several hours a day.
Climbing and Balance: Ability to climb vertical ladders and navigate stairs
Weather Conditions: Exposure to extreme weather conditions including heat and cold
