Parts Counter Specialist

A Heavy Duty Truck Parts Counter Specialist is responsible for helping customers identify, source, and purchase parts for commercial trucks and diesel equipment. The role combines technical knowledge, customer service, inventory management, and sales.

Typical responsibilities include:

• Assisting customers, mechanics, and fleet managers in identifying the correct truck parts.
• Looking up parts using electronic catalogs, VINs, and manufacturer databases.
• Processing sales transactions, quotes, special orders, and returns.
• Managing inventory by receiving, stocking, and tracking parts.
• Coordinating with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of parts.
• Maintaining accurate records of inventory and customer orders.
• Building relationships with repeat customers and providing excellent customer service.
• Recommending replacement or complementary parts when appropriate.

Key skills and qualifications:

• Knowledge of heavy-duty truck systems (engine, drivetrain, brakes, suspension, electrical, HVAC, etc.).
• Familiarity with manufacturers such as Freightliner, Kenworth, Peterbilt, Volvo, Mack, International, and Cummins.
• Experience using parts lookup software and inventory management systems.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
• Basic computer proficiency.
• Ability to lift and move parts weighing up to 50 pounds.
