    Job Description:

    Summary:

    PASS Tutors offer one-on-one tutoring support to students through AU’s Peer Assisted Student Support (PASS) Program. The PASS Program is free to all AU students, and paid peer tutors are also AU students!

    Essential Functions: 

    • Provide one-on-one tutoring in their supported courses. 

    • Adequately prepare for tutoring sessions by reviewing WCOnline appointment forms, and reviewing past concepts during shifts.

    • Use empty sessions to complete other role-related tasks and activities.

    • Distribute Post-Tutoring Survey to their attendees at the end of each session. 

    • Complete Post-Appointment Client Report Forms after tutoring sessions. 

    • Attend and fully participate in semester trainings. 

    • Conduct peer observations of fellow PASS Program Tutors. 

    • Meet with Tutoring staff at least twice per semester. 

    • Accurately complete time sheets and surveys in a timely manner.  

    • Conduct class visits to advertise the PASS Program to students across campus.

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

    • Part-time.

    • 2 - 6 hours per week.

    Salary Range:

    • $18.40 - $20.00 per hour.

    Additional Eligibility Qualifications: 

    • Work up to 6 hours per week (unless otherwise approved by Tutoring staff). Tutors will likely be scheduled between 2 - 4 hours per week to start the semester. 

    • Positions renew each semester based upon Tutor feedback, student feedback, course offerings, and American University enrollment status. 

    • PASS Program Tutors must retain a cumulative GPA at or above 3.0, from the start of employment until date of separation. Failure to do so can result in suspension or termination from the role.

    • In addition to pay, PASS Program Tutors will have opportunities for professional development and skills development throughout the semester as Peer Tutors. 

    • PASS tutors are part of a community of fellow tutors on campus who have various backgrounds of study.
