About the role
Dorset Travel coordinate the transport provision for children and young people with additional needs within Dorset as well as out of county. The team also supply and support transport need for Mainstream, Child Care as well as Adults.
A Regular Passenger Assistant is required from the Portland Area contracted at approximately 30 hours per week - Term Time Only commencing at £12.85 per hour.
The role of a Passenger Assistant is to support children and young people with additional needs providing assistance/support in maintaining a safe environment on the journey from/to home/school.
This vacancy is to support a young person/s serving Coombe House School
Candidates need to be available morning and afternoon to coincide with school opening and closing times.

You must be physically fit with the ability to run, bend, stretch, push, pull, lift, carry and kneel to provide the care required for the position of a Passenger Assistant.

Dorset Travel is also an accredited training centre with experienced and qualified trainers, new staff will be invited onto a full induction training course, providing the tools and knowledge to enable you to work safely and professionally.

An Enhanced DBS Check will be undertaken as part of the recruitment process for Child and Adult Workforce.
Please note you will need to have Business Insurance in order to attend Induction and Refresher Training.

In the first year of service this salary may need to be adjusted to ensure you are paid
accurately to reflect your holiday entitlement. A similar adjustment may be made at
the point your employment ends to ensure that you are paid accurately for the
number of days worked in any academic year.
