Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Passive Fire Protection (PFP) Applicator/Inspectors to join our team supporting FPSO Uaru that is scheduled to arrive in Guayana in the second half of 2026 . The ideal candidate has hands-on experience applying and inspecting certified PFP coating systems — including epoxy intumescent products such as International Paint's Chartek series — and is familiar with applicable fire resistance standards and project documentation requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply passive fire protection coatings (epoxy intumescent, cementitious) to structural steel, vessels, and piping in accordance with manufacturer specifications and project requirements.
- Inspect PFP installations for correct DFT (dry film thickness), surface preparation, and coverage using calibrated instruments.
- Review and interpret PFP product certificates, system design drawings, and application guides.
- Ensure all work complies with relevant standards (UL 1709, BS 476, EN13381, NFPA).
- Maintain and complete inspection records, quality control documentation, and material traceability logs.
- Coordinate with QA/QC teams, project engineers, and third-party inspectors.
- Identify and report non-conformances and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Ensure safe handling and storage of PFP materials on site.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on PFP application or inspection experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, or heavy industrial construction.
- Familiarity with epoxy intumescent coating systems (e.g., International Paint Chartek, Interchar).
- AMPP (NACE/SSPC) Coating Inspector certification (CIP Level 1 or 2) or equivalent.
- Knowledge of surface preparation standards (SSPC/NACE/ISO 8501).
- Ability to read and interpret technical data sheets, PFP certificates, and engineering drawings.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- ICorr PFP Coating Inspector (Epoxy) Level 2 certification.
- FIRAS or equivalent third-party PFP installer certification.
- Experience with International Paint (AkzoNobel) Chartek or Interchar product systems.
- Familiarity with UL 1709 (hydrocarbon fire) and jet fire testing standards.
- Experience on offshore or onshore oil & gas facilities.
Work Environment
This position involves work on a FSPO with confined spaces, elevated structures, and areas requiring full PPE. Work will be offshore and be on a rotational basis.
