This role is essential to delivering an exceptional fine dining experience through the execution of high-quality desserts and pastries. The Pastry Chef is a key member of the culinary team, responsible for preparing refined desserts, pastries, and baked goods that reflect the artistry and standards of our brand. This position contributes directly to the guest experience through consistent presentation, flavor, and attention to detail. Working alongside the Executive Chef and kitchen leadership, the Pastry Chef supports the execution of seasonal offerings, maintains consistency in all pastry items, and ensures all products meet established quality standards.
Major Responsibilities:
- Prepare and execute a variety of desserts, pastries, and baked goods according to established recipes and standards.
- Ensure consistency in taste, texture, and presentation of all pastry items.
- Assist in daily pastry production, including prep, baking, plating, and finishing.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and proper food storage within the pastry station.
- Follow all recipes, portioning, and plating guidelines as directed by kitchen leadership.
- Assist with inventory organization and proper handling of ingredients to maintain freshness and quality.
- Support the team in maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen environment.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and sanitation standards, including proper use of equipment and reporting any issues to leadership.
- Stay attentive to detail and maintain high standards in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborate within kitchen team members to ensure smooth service and timely execution.
Required Skills / Abilities / Competencies:
- Strong understanding of classical pastry techniques and experience with modern plating and dessert presentation.
- Creativity and passion for producing exceptional pastries that align with the restaurant’s sophisticated brand.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of pastry techniques and dessert preparation.

Education and Experience:
- Must be at least (18) years of age.
- Possess a current Food Handler’s certification before starting work.
- A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a fine dining restaurant, luxury hotel, or high-end bakery/patisserie is highly desirable. Working in environments where high-volume production meets high-end plating and presentation skills are essential.
- Participation in pastry-focused programs or apprenticeships that emphasize classic techniques such as sugar work, chocolate tempering, laminated doughs, and plated desserts, preferred.
- Experience cleaning and maintaining a commercial kitchen is a plus.
Work Environment:
- Working during evenings, weekends, and holidays to accommodate peak dining hours.
- Fast-paced environment requiring quick movements and efficiency in tight, confined workspaces.
- Handling and transporting dishware, glassware, and kitchen equipment in wet and sometimes slippery conditions.
- Collaborating with a diverse team of front-of-house and back-of-house staff in a structured yet flexible atmosphere.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand for periods of up to eight (8) hours.
- Must have the strength and endurance to handle repetitive motions, such as leaning over and bending, and be capable of lifting objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds.
- Required to use assistance when available i.e. hand trucks, ramps, or another team member.
- The ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and maneuvering dishes, utensils, pots, and pans.
