As a Pastry Cook at Populus, you will play an important role in creating the pastries, desserts, and baked goods that support our culinary program across the hotel. Working closely with the culinary team, you will prepare pastry items for Pasque, Stellar Jay, and other hotel needs, helping ensure that every item is thoughtfully prepared, beautifully presented, and consistent with Populus standards.

Your Impact

As a Pastry Cook, you will:

• Prepare pastries, desserts, baked goods, cakes, and other pastry items according to established recipes and standards.
• Produce pastry items for multiple hotel outlets, including Pasque and Stellar Jay.
• Assist with developing and executing seasonal and special pastry offerings.
• Prepare cakes, fillings, frostings, creams, sauces, doughs, batters, and other pastry components.
• Decorate and finish cakes, pastries, and desserts with attention to detail and presentation.
• Follow recipes and production specifications to ensure consistency in quality, flavor, texture, portioning, and appearance.
• Assist with the preparation of desserts and pastry items for events, banquets, special occasions, and hotel programming.
• Maintain organized and efficient pastry production while meeting established preparation and service timelines.
• Properly store, label, date, and rotate ingredients and prepared products according to food safety standards.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary pastry kitchen and work area throughout each shift.
• Safely operate and properly care for ovens, mixers, food processors, and other pastry equipment.
• Monitor ingredient inventory and communicate product or supply needs to culinary leadership.
• Minimize food waste through proper preparation, storage, portioning, and utilization of ingredients.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, health, and safety procedures.
• Collaborate with chefs, culinary team members, and other hotel departments to support successful daily operations.
• Assist with receiving, organizing, and storing pastry ingredients and supplies as needed.
• Contribute ideas for new pastry items, presentations, and seasonal offerings.
• Support other culinary and pastry responsibilities as assigned.

You will bring:

• Previous pastry, baking, or culinary experience preferred.
• Experience preparing pastries, desserts, cakes, or other baked goods.
• Cake decorating experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of baking and pastry techniques.
• An eye for detail and a strong sense of presentation.
• The ability to consistently follow recipes and production specifications.
• The ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced culinary environment.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• A commitment to cleanliness, sanitation, and food safety.
• The ability to safely operate and care for pastry and kitchen equipment.
• Creativity and enthusiasm for developing and presenting pastry offerings.
