Prime is seeking a Pastry Prep Cook who will support the daily production and preparation of desserts, pastries, baked goods, and specialty items in a fast-paced, high-volume restaurant environment. This role assists the pastry team by preparing ingredients, executing recipes, maintaining inventory, and ensuring products are produced according to established quality and presentation standards.

 

Successful candidates are detail-oriented, organized, and dependable team members who enjoy working in a collaborative kitchen environment. The Pastry Prep Cook plays a key role in ensuring pastry production runs efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, cleanliness, and consistency.

 

Essential Responsibilities + Duties

  • Prepare ingredients for daily pastry production, including measuring, mixing, scaling, portioning, and assembling recipes.
  • Assist in the preparation of cakes, pastries, doughs, creams, custards, mousses, ice creams, sorbets, and other dessert components according to company recipes and yield guides.
  • Execute daily prep lists and production schedules to ensure adequate product levels for service.
  • Portion, package, label, date, and store products according to company standards and FIFO procedures.
  • Maintain freshness and quality standards by properly handling and storing ingredients and finished products.
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate product shortages or supply needs to management
  • Assist with receiving, stocking, and organizing pastry ingredients and supplies.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation at all times.
  • Properly clean and maintain kitchen equipment, utensils, and production areas.
  • Follow all company recipes, food safety standards, sanitation procedures, and health department regulations.
  • Work collaboratively with pastry and culinary team members to ensure smooth production and service operations.
  • Support pastry cooks and chefs with special projects, seasonal menu changes, and banquet or event production as needed.
  • Contribute positively to team morale and assist fellow team members during high-volume periods.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned within the scope of the role.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Previous pastry, baking, food preparation, or kitchen experience preferred.
  • Degree from a culinary school, baking and pastry program, food service program, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Valid Food Handler Certification required.
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

 

Physical Demands + Work Environment:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8+ hours per shift)
  • Ability to frequently lift, push, carry, and place objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, stooping, twisting, and repetitive motion
  • Continuous movement in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Ability to complete tasks that require repetitive motion.
  • Ability to safely work around kitchen equipment, ovens, mixers, and refrigerated storage areas.
