Position Overview Foley Hoag's Intellectual Property Department has an opening for a Patent Agent or Technology Specialist with a background in computer science, electrical and computer engineering, or related fields and at least three years of patent prosecution experience. The candidate may be located in any of our US offices – New York, Boston, DC, or Denver.Responsibilities Represent a variety of technology companies, ranging from startups to Fortune 500 clients, in patent prosecution matters.Develop and implement patent strategy, drafting, prosecution, and diligence work.Collaborate one-on-one with associates and partners to gain depth of experience across a broad range of patent matters.Maintain direct client contact and provide proactive guidance.Qualifications Strong academic credentials in computer science, electrical and computer engineering, or related fields.At least three years of patent prosecution experience.Preferred: M.S. or M.Eng. in a relevant field, or equivalent industry experience.Expected to take and pass the USPTO registration exam within one year of hire if not already a registered patent agent.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Compensation Compensation range is $160,000 - $180,000, commensurate with related experience and qualifications. The salary will be set based on internal equity, experience, specialty, and training.
