What You’ll Do:
In this dynamic role, you will:
- Showcase your expertise by performing precise gross examinations and dissections of surgical specimens, ensuring every detail is captured.
- Assist the team with the daily operations of the gross room, keeping the workflow smooth and efficient.
- Ensure excellence by following NYSDOH, CAP, and CDC standards to provide top-notch care and compliance.
- Collaborate and innovate with pathologists and other clinical professionals to deliver timely, accurate specimen analyses that make a difference.
- Stay organized and efficient by maintaining accurate records, managing tools, and aiding the technical staff to ensure that the lab is always stocked with the supplies you need.
Position Qualifications
Required:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Biology or a related science with at least three years of supervised on-the-job training OR A degree from an NCCLS-accredited Pathologists' Assistant training program.
- NYS License as a Pathologists’ Assistant
Preferred Certifications:
- ASCP Certification as a Pathologists’ Assistant [PA(ASCP)CM].
- Additional certifications like Certified Histological Technician, Clinical Laboratory Technician, or Licensed Clinical Laboratory Technologist are a bonus!

Work Environment
- Most work is performed in an environment that requires working in close quarters with other employees. The area is air conditioned as well as heated. Requires standing, sitting, reaching and ability to lift 25 pounds. May have exposure to fumes. Requires appropriate use of PPE including gloves, gowns and eye protection when needed.
