We are seeking a meticulous and experienced professional to join our laboratory team on a rewarding 16-week contract. This is your opportunity to contribute to critical diagnostic processes, handle complex specimens, and support patient care with excellence.
What Youll Do:
- Perform gross examination and dissection of large, complex specimens, including adult and fetal autopsies
- Conduct gross examination and dissection of small biopsies
- Prepare tissues and manage histological processing, sectioning, and specimen fixation
- Accurately receive, label, and process specimens
- Obtain and review patient clinical information such as scans, X-rays, and lab results
- Assist with tumor triage and specimen accessioning
- Conduct microscopic examination with tissue sampling
- Support postmortem examinations and removal of brain and spinal cord when needed
- Capture gross and microscopic photographs as required
Were Looking For Candidates Who:
- Have a minimum of 3 years of experience in a hospital clinical laboratory
- Possess ASCP-PA certification
- Are experienced in macroscopic description of anatomic features, tissue processing, and specimen management
- Can perform gross examinations, dissections, and histological sectioning
- Are familiar with EPIC or similar hospital documentation systems
- Are adaptable, detail-oriented, and collaborative
Nice to Have Skills:
- Experience in specimen accessioning, frozen section staining, and removing brain/spinal cord
- Experience conducting postmortem examinations
- Masters degree in a relevant field
- proficiency in gross/microscopic photography
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree required; Master's degree preferred
- At least 3 years of relevant experience, including work with complex specimens
- Prior traveler experience is welcome
Additional Requirements:
- Availability to start on 07/13/2026
- Willing to travel; locals accepted with rate adjustments
- Must complete an 8-hour hospital orientation and 8-hour EPIC training
- No call, float, or weekend requirements
- Certification in ASCP-PA and relevant licensure
