Pathologists' Assistant

Hourly pay range: $44.80 min. - $64.96 max.

This position, under the supervision of the Medical Director and pathologists, the Pathologists' Assistant performs comprehensive gross examination and processing of surgical pathology specimens, assists with intraoperative consultations and frozen sections, and supports the anatomic pathology workflow. The role requires independent evaluation of a wide range of surgical specimens, detailed documentation, specimen preparation, and collaboration with pathologists, surgeons, nursing staff, and laboratory personnel to ensure accurate and timely patient care. Responsibilities may include education, research, and administrative services. This position collaborates with Pathologists in the promotion and provision of healthcare.

EDUCATION/TRAINING/ EXPERIENCE:

1. Successful completion of a Master’s degree program from National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) accredited Pathologists’ Assistant program.

2. Knowledge of surgical pathology grossing techniques, frozen section procedures, anatomy, and specimen handling requirements.

3. Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills.

4. Ability to work independently while maintaining close collaboration with pathologists and laboratory staff.

5. Possess the knowledge and skills required to meet Redlands Community Hospital Medical Staff criteria.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:

1. American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) – Pathologists’ Assistant License - PA(ASCP)
