Job Title: Pathologists’ Assistant 
Location: Winston Salem, NC 
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 12p-8:30p
Dates of Assignment: 8/3/26 - 11/6/26
Pay: $3,100 -$3,300 *does not include travel reimbursements and rental car

Qualifications:  

• Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college/university required.
• Successful completion of a NAACLS-accredited Pathologists’ Assistant program required.
• ASCP Pathologists’ Assistant certification required (or eligibility with certification obtained within 1 year of hire).
• Minimum of 1 year of relevant laboratory experience, including grossing and autopsy service preferred. Clinical internships of 12 months duration meet this requirement.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, laboratory instrumentation, and quality control procedures.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and communicate clearly in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
• Experience with autopsy services, surgical pathology grossing, and specimen photography preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform gross examination, dissection, and description of a full range of surgical pathology specimens, from simple biopsies to complex cancer cases.
• Assist pathologists with autopsy procedures and related specimen examination.
• Photograph surgical and autopsy specimens for documentation, teaching, and quality assurance purposes.
• Ensure specimen integrity, accurate labeling, and proper documentation throughout the grossing process.
• Participate in special projects, process improvement initiatives, and evaluation of new laboratory techniques.
• Provide training and orientation to laboratory personnel on equipment, workflows, and software systems.
• Maintain compliance with CAP, CLIA, and departmental quality assurance and safety standards.
• Collaborate effectively with pathologists, laboratory staff, and medical personnel to support efficient laboratory operations.
