    Inova Health Center 8081-Fairfax East is looking for a dedicated Patient Access Associate 1 to join the team. We are also proud to be consistently recognized as a top employer in both the D.C. metro area and the nation. \n \nFeatured Benefits:\n\n Committed to Team Member Health: offering medical, dental and vision coverage, and a robust team member wellness program.\n Retirement: Inova matches the first 5% of eligible contributions \u2013 starting on your first day.\n Tuition and Student Loan Assistance: offering up to $5,250 per year in education assistance and up to $10,000 for student loans.\n Mental Health Support: offering all Inova team members, their spouses/partners, and their children 25 mental health coaching or therapy sessions, per person, per year, at no cost.\n Work/Life Balance: offering paid time off and paid parental leave.\n \nPatient Access Associate 1 Job Responsibilities:\n\n Works independently to complete assignments without close supervision; Improves inefficiencies and minimizes repetitive errors by changing/improving workflow processes; Uses a logical process to identify the cause of problems and develop appropriate solutions.\n Selects an appropriate method of communication for audiences and adjusts communication style when needed.\n Explains insurance benefits and patient liability by using appropriate communication methods/styles.\n Applies knowledge of online payer verification systems to obtain and validate insurance information on a timely and accurate basis.\n Coordinates with other departments to assist or transport patients/visitors requiring special attention/support; Interviews patients to secure and document required medical, financial, demographic and insurance information.\n Educates and assists patients with the completion/submission of applications for alternative sources of payment for healthcare services including medical assistance programs, loans and grants.\n Reports safety hazards/violations and takes appropriate action to protect the environment and guests until help arrives \u2013 if necessary.\n Communicates scheduling changes to patients, staff, physicians and patient representatives in a timely and professional manner.\n \nMinimum Qualifications:\n\n Education: High School Diploma or GED\n Experience: 1 year of customer service or 1 year of experience in a medical setting. (Associates degree in lieu of experience).\n \nPreferred Qualifications: \n\n 2 years customer service experience or 1 year experience in a medical setting\n* Travelling is required. \n\n
