Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Patient Access Associate - Part Time, Days - FIN-Patient Access - 1:00PM - 9:00PM Monday, Wednesday, Sunday.

In this role, the successful candidate The associate interviews the patient to obtain necessary identification information and prepares the required forms to obtain treatment, billing or record release authorization. The associate applies ID bands to patients when necessary following the two-identifier rule. They have contact with insurance companies for notification or other information. They educate patients about Advance Directives and Charity Care when necessary and performs other clerical duties where needed. The associate represents the Emergency Department, Pre Surgical Testing, Admitting, and other ancillary areas serving as a liaison between patients and staff, by entering arriving patients into the computer system to allow for patient processing and throughput. In addition, the Patient Access Associates assist departments with projects and various duties deemed by the Management staff

Job Responsibilities:

• Asksappropriatequestionstoobtaincorrectidentificationinformation.
• ObtainsthecorrectDemographic,Guarantor,NextofKin,andEmergencyContactinformation
• Obtainscurrentinsurancecoverage,andidentification
• AbletoascertainthecorrectCoordinationofBenefits(COB)andenterthenecessaryinformation to ensure payment.
• AlldocumentsmustbescannedintotheElectronicDocumentImaging.
• Ask appropriate questions to complete Medicare Secondary Payer Questionnaire when necessaryandenterthenecessarydata,especiallythepatientMedicarenumberforpayment.
• Interprets Payor Websites
• PatientsandfamiliesaregivenexplanationofhospitalandRegulatoryformsbeforesigning.
• Patient Formsaresigned,witnessed,dated,andtimedasappropriateforthe registration type.
• WhentheAssociateisunabletoobtainsignatures,necessarydocumentationofexplanationis needed as to why signature could not be obtained.All documentation needs to be signed and dated.
• Documentationsofallfollowupareneeded
• DistributesregistrationformstolocationswithinED, Peri-op, andInpatient units.
• AttachesI.D.bandtopatientwristinaccordancewithMedicalCenterpolicyandprocedures. (Two identifiers are verified before affixing band
• AllpatientsareofferedacopyofthePatientBillofRightsandtheAddendumofthePatient Rights
• AdvanceDirectivesarereviewedatthetimeofregistration.WhenthereisanAdvanceDirective and it is not present at the time of treatment; the Associate knows how to do follow up to obtain the Advance Directive.
• Documentationismadewheneducationisunabletobegivenduetopatientconditionor situation. Follow ups are done until signatures are obtained.
• Chartsareinorderwithallformsreadyforthenextday.
• Collectscopayments,deductiblesandallhospitalpayments.
• Enterallpaymentsintothe EHRusingtheappropriateaccountnumberforeach payment.
• Issuesreceiptsforpayments.Allcreditcardreceiptsmusthavesignatureofthecardholder.
• Dailyreceiptsarebalancedandalltransactionsareclosedoutbytheendoftheshift.
• Allcloseouttransactionsshouldbeprintedwithpayment.
• AllTransactionaretobecompleteddailybytheendoftheshiftandreadyforcourierpickup.
• Consistentlyanswerstelephonesinaprofessionalandconfidentialmannerbygivingagreeting, department name and their name. Takes messages clearly and relays to proper persons.
• Workingwithclinicalstafftofacilitatepatientscareandpayment
• Attendsandparticipatesinatleast75%ofdepartmentalstaffmeetingsannually.
• DemonstratesknowledgeofDepartmentyearlyPerformanceImprovementprojects.
• Demonstratesteamworkethic,assistscoworkerstogetthejobdone.
• Flexibletoworkadditionalshiftstoassisttheteam.
• WillingtoworkinallareasofPatientAccess
• DemonstratesknowledgeofPatientAccessEmergencyManagementprocess,locationof disaster box in ER Registration and what to do without being prompted.
• Performanceresultsinexcellentcustomerserviceskillsbywelcomingpatientsandfamiliesinto the facility and directing them to the appropriate locations and providing Customer Service throughout their stay.
• Demonstrates knowledge of the EHR System
• Demonstrates knowledge of downtime procedure in PatientAccess areas.Including but not limitedtotheEmergencyDepartment.Allstaffneedtobeeducatedonputtingpatientsback into the system.
• Hasneatandappropriateattirefollowsdepartmentaldresspolicy,badgeisdisplayed appropriately.
• Hasapositiveattitudeandrespectfultoallcoworkers,managementandancillarystaff

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a High school diploma or equivalency.
Understanding of Medical Terminology.
Prior customer service experience.
Ability to learn quickly as technology and insurance requirements change.
Basic computer and keyboarding skills.
Ability to walk and stand in fast paced environment with frequent interruptions.
