    US:NV:Carson City Patient Registration

    Part Time Swing Shift

    Summary

    Responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the patient registration/demographic information obtained during each patient encounter. Responsible for collection of copays/deductibles as identified. Ensures the completion of all documents required at point of patient access. The population served by this position consists of all age groups.

    Qualifications

    Required:

    • Minimum of one (1) year of direct customer service experience
    • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

    Preferred:

    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Working knowledge of medical terminology and formal training in related areas

    Essential Functions

    • Ensures the accuracy of all patient encounter information (demographics/insurance). 97% accuracy to meet standard. 99% accuracy rate to exceed standard.
    • Ensures that current authorizations are in place for scheduled patients at point of patient arrival and in the absence of authorization, immediately notifies pre-service department and ancillary department.
    • Ensures that 99% of patient share of cost identified by pre-service staff are collected and has a 50% success rate in collecting all identified patient share of cost for assigned patients.
    • Follows hospital protocol for handling of uninsured patients including referral to eligibility vendor if appropriate.
    • Maintains working knowledge of downtime procedures. Performs downtime procedures with little or no assistance.
    • Ensures patients, including patients admitted into beds, have signed all necessary paperwork, and insurance information has been obtained.
    • Ensures all documentation is noted in ADT system.
    • Demonstrates working knowledge of all hospital IT systems necessary to accomplish daily tasks.
    • Assess and trouble shoots problems with patients, referring physicians and their staff. Independently makes decisions that fundamentally adhere to hospital and/or department protocols.
    • Must be able to demonstrate a high level of computer skills including hospital intranet site as well as the internet as appropriate
    • Independently demonstrates ability to provide and facilitate excellent customer service in all situations.
    • Acts as a mentor for new employees as they develop their skills & competencies related to daily job functions.
    • Actively participates with all performance improvement initiatives - both departmental and organizationally, as requested.
    • Demonstrates openness to new procedures and provides constructive recommendations to Supervisor(s).
    • Meets annual requirements for position including but not limited to: Competencies; electronic learning modules; Maintaining Competency Binder; Employee Health requirements.
    • Maintains working knowledge of dealing with all hospital emergency response CODES.
    • Attends no less than 75% of all department and/or organizational meetings.
    • Covers other physical locations as needed to facilitate patient care.
    • Assists PBX in answering phone calls after hours and during emergency response CODES.
    • Assists in the ordering of necessary departmental supplies.
    • Assists in the completion of patient medical records and charts as needed.
    • Inquires and arranges for non-medical services such as spiritual requests.
    • Ability to handle equipment malfunctions, applying troubleshooting techniques.
    • Demonstrates the ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast paced environment
    • Required to analyze and problem solve in emergent situations.
    • Required to regularly interact with internal and external customers.
    • Required to handle routine workflow with a minimum of supervision.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.
