Position Overview
Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking compassionate and customer-focused Patient Access Representatives for multiple contract opportunities in Hixson, TN. This role supports patient registration, admissions, scheduling, insurance verification, financial clearance, and customer service functions within a fast-paced healthcare environment. Candidates should be comfortable working in high-pressure settings and handling emotionally challenging situations with professionalism and empathy. Prior healthcare and Epic experience are strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet patients and provide exceptional customer service
- Complete patient registration, admissions, pre-admissions, and discharge processes
- Collect and verify patient demographic and insurance information
- Verify benefits, eligibility, authorizations, and financial clearance requirements
- Educate patients on financial responsibilities and collect payments using compliant practices
- Explain and secure required patient forms and documentation
- Schedule appointments and diagnostic procedures as needed
- Maintain accurate records and protected health information
- Support multiple Patient Access service areas, including Emergency Department functions
- Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and internal teams
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Prior healthcare experience strongly preferred
- Epic experience strongly preferred
- Medical Terminology coursework required
- Minimum typing speed of 35 WPM
- Customer service experience required
- Proficiency with computers, keyboarding, and Microsoft applications
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Strong communication and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
- 01 year of administrative experience in a healthcare or insurance setting
- Some college coursework preferred
- Knowledge of healthcare workflows, insurance verification, and compliance standards preferred
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods
- Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds
