    Patient Access Representative – Emergency Room 
     
    Position Type: Full-time(0.8 status or 32hrs per week) 

    Schedule: 2:30pm-11pm. Rotating weekends and holidays.

    Job Summary
    This position collects and verifies all patient demographical and financial information while adhering to ethical and legal standards and recognizing and responding to emergencies while demonstrating professional characteristics.

    Wage range: $17.50-$24.76, plus night and weekend shift differential. 
     
    Responsibilities include:
    Registers and admits patients by obtaining relevant patient demographic and insurance information, adjusting patient status as appropriate, ensuring legally required forms are completed, and alerting ER Triage nurse for ER visits.
    Works pre-admission report daily to pre-register ancillary account.
    Answers incoming telephone calls on the switchboard, determines purpose of call, and forwards calls to appropriate personnel or department.
    Updates hospital on-call schedule daily.
    Verifies and generates daily patient room charges.
    Coordinates all alarm monitors and code calls which include summoning appropriate response teams.
    Greets and provides information to patients and visitors.
    Answers patient and visitor questions and directs them to desired destination.
    Receives payments on account and reconciles cash drawer.
    Other duties may be assigned.
     
    Qualifications
    High school diploma, general education degree (GED), or combination of education and experience
    Six months prior hospital/medical or general office experience is required.
    Previous patient registration and computer experience are desirable.
