At Valley Presbyterian Hospital, our Patient Access team is the first point of contact for patients and families. We're seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Patient Access Representative to ensure accurate registration, insurance verification, and a smooth intake experience.

What You'll Do

  • Interview and register patients while ensuring accuracy and compliance with hospital policies
  • Verify insurance coverage, obtain authorizations, and secure pre-certifications
  • Accurately enter demographic and financial data into the system
  • Collect copays, deductibles, deposits, and payments for services
  • Ensure compliance with EMTALA regulations during patient registration
  • Scan and maintain required documentation (insurance cards, IDs, etc.)
  • Assist patients with financial forms and payment arrangements
  • Coordinate patient placement and room assignments with clinical teams
  • Maintain detailed documentation and account notes for follow-up
  • Provide professional, courteous service to patients, families, and staff

What You Bring

  • 2+ years of experience in healthcare, insurance, or related field
  • Knowledge of patient registration, insurance verification, and payor systems
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment
  • Computer proficiency and attention to detail
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to obtain LA City Fire Card and MOAB certification within 30 days

Preferred

  • Experience in hospital admissions or physician office setting
  • Coursework or certification in medical terminology or patient accounting
