Starting Pay DOE: $18.28/hour

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

This position is responsible for greeting, directing, and assisting patients and visitors in a professional, courteous, and efficient manner and throughout their visit. Scheduling and registering patients, including the accurate collection of required data. Staff will also determine eligibility for services, and counsel patients regarding payment policies, monitoring and collection of monies due. The Patient Access Specialist is also responsible for the overall management of the waiting room atmosphere, keeping patients informed about wait times, and ensuring a comfortable and clean waiting area.

An employee in this position must be able to engage with clients involved in the criminal justice system. The work of this position may expose the employee to content of a sexual or violent nature, whether through conversation or documentation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Ability to provide strong customer service to a complex patient population.
  2. Good verbal and written communication skills.
  3. Basic bookkeeping skills - cash handling, posting charges, and deposits.
  4. Ability to navigate multiple computer software programs including EHR, Microsoft Office products, scanner, calculator, and multi-line telephone.
  5. Must be a self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Experience as a receptionist in a medical, dental, or social services setting.
  2. Strong bookkeeping or accounting skills.
  3. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  4. Experience working with individuals in the criminal justice system for serious offenses and/or individuals seeking help, rehabilitation services or treatment.
