Summary:

Boulder Medical Center (BMC) is currently seeking Patient Access Supervisor candidates to join our Operations team! This position works full-time 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday. Under supervision of the Patient Access Manager and directs, plans, and coordinates all reception staff within the areas assigned to ensure that departments run optimally and in accordance with established guidelines. Provides analytical and operational support to design and implement processes that improve department performance.

This role works in collaboration with Practice Managers to create work schedules, complete timecards, maintain attendance records and evaluate staff time off requests. The Patient Access Supervisor coordinates the assignments of Resource Pool staff to ensure appropriate coverage allocation.

Job responsibilities:

  • Oversees daily reception operations for assigned location(s), identifying, analyzing and resolving issues to ensure departments run smoothly.
  • Performs all facets of the hiring and performance management process of department personnel. Duties include but are not limited to: interviewing, selecting, training, evaluating performance as well as coaching, counseling and/or disciplining employees, as needed.
  • Ensures that staff is correctly and efficiently checking in patients for appointments verifying correct demographic and insurance information, directing patients to appropriate areas of the clinic, and collecting patient responsibility amounts up front.
  • Has working knowledge of healthcare insurance; deductibles, copays, coinsurance, HMO, PPO, and financial responsibilities in collecting payments to support and back up all staff with these tasks.
  • Develops and implements short and long-term work plans including training and monitoring for success in collaboration with physicians, Administration, IT, and other operational resources.
  • Shares "on-call" Coordinator duties on a scheduled basis as assigned.

Required Experience:
  • Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain cooperative work relationships with providers and staff.
  • Must be self-directed, highly motivated with strong organizational skills and work ethic emphasizing tact, diplomacy, flexibility and confidentiality.
  • Must possess knowledge of regulatory standards for compliance.
  • Intermediate proficiency and knowledge with computer systems and programs including but not limited to MS Office software.
  • Must be able to create and interpret a variety of documents and spreadsheets.
  • Must be familiar with physician scheduling software, Electronic Health Record (EHR) software, and payroll /timekeeping system.

Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent, required.
  • Bachelor's degree and/or relevant coursework in healthcare administration preferred.

Previous Experience:

  • One (1)-Two (2) years of medical office experience with an emphasis in healthcare operations and staffing
  • Working knowledge of patient registration, insurance and financial service processes in a hospital or clinic setting preferred. Management experience preferred.

Salary Range:

  • $58,000 - $73,000/annually; depending on experience.
