Position Summary

Serves as a knowledge and resource expert for Patient Access Representatives. Responsible for assisting with the supervision of staff and supporting management with various functions related to all patient registration activities including patient reception, face-to-face registration, insurance verification, financial counseling, cash collections, chart reconciliation and patient discharge. Individual must demonstrate proficiency in all aspects of the registration process and ensures that the team completes the work in a timely fashion. Provide support to an organizational culture that lends the highest degree of service excellence standards to all customer groups. Acts as primary liaison for patients receiving professional and hospital services.

Responsibilities

Assists Supervisor with the monitoring of the day to day activities of the Registration area

Support staff with registrations to include interviewing patients and collecting complete and accurate demographic, financial, and clinical information to properly enter into the electronic health record to complete a hospital registration

Periodically audits of patient registrations including review of consents, advance directives and MSP questionaires; responsible for visiting units and auditing patient records

Assists with the development and implementation of departmental policies, procedures, and training documents

Effectively maintains leadership in a group environment and promotes teamwork

Assists management for the training, mentoring, and development of staff to include new hire training and implementation of new registration job requirements

Assists supervisor with updating staff with relevant information/changes for EPIC and other computer programs in the hospital as they affect the department via written communication or staff meetings

Responsible for daily monitoring of productivity and quality assurance standards and the collection and evaluation of registration account for accuracy to ensure the hospital is properly reimbursed

Acts as a role model and resource person to staff by exemplifying team work, positive customer relations and effective written and verbal communication skills

Compiles statistical information regarding compliance for performance indicators that are monitored by the Quality Department monthly via Microsoft (Excel, Word)

Maintains patient wait time statistics for area

Cross trained to perform other functions within the division as assigned

Ability to troubleshoot system issues with minimal management assistance

Minimum Requirements

High School or Equivalent (GED) or higher is required

Associate Degree: preferred

Bachelors Degree: preferred

4 - 5 years - registration/insurance verification and scheduling experience in EPIC, or other EHR systems within a hospital or medical office environment; customer service experience is required.

Associates Degree can substitute for 2 years of registration/insurance verification and scheduling experience in EPIC or other EHR system within a hospital or medical office environment, customer service experience is required

Required

Excellent communication (both written and oral), detail orientation, organization, and multitasking skills required

Proficient computer skills; Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word and Excel)

Preferred

Experience with EPIC and medical office workflows

Insurance Verification Experience
