Position Purpose: The Patient Access Trainer is responsible for the development, delivery and evaluation of standardized training programs for Patient Access staff in safety-net hospital environment. This role ensures caregivers are trained consistently, equitably and in accordance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies. The Trainer supports onboarding, retraining and continuous performance improvement to ensure accurate registration, compliance and timely patient access to care for diverse and underserved populations. This position reports to the Patient Access Manager of Registration.
Key Job Activities: Training & Education
- Delivers standardized onboarding and ongoing training for Patient Access roles in alignment with job classifications and scope of practice.
- Facilitates classroom, virtual and on-the-job training using approved curricula and documented competencies.
- Develops and maintains training materials, job aids, workflows and competency validation tools.
- Provides targeted retraining and remediation in response to audit findings, patient complaints, system changes or performance trends.
- Variable hours for fluctuating workloads and availability for weekend and off shifts
Education and Work Experience:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Education or related field is required.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of Patient Access or Revenue Cycle experience in a hospital setting is required.
- Experience training, coaching, or mentoring staff is required.
- Epic Trainer credential or experience supporting Epic training initiatives is preferred.
- Strong understanding of insurance verification and billing processes is preferred.
Certifications/Licenses:
- Epic Trainer credential is preferred.
