Position Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Patient Advocate/Quality Coordinator to support a positive patient experience while contributing to quality improvement and patient safety initiatives. This role serves as a liaison between patients, families, and hospital staff, helping to resolve concerns, protect patient rights, and identify opportunities for service excellence and process improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Advocacy & Complaint Resolution

• Serve as an advocate for patients and families throughout their care experience.
• Conduct daily patient rounds to proactively identify and address concerns.
• Receive, investigate, document, and manage patient complaints and grievances.
• Facilitate communication between patients, families, providers, and hospital departments.
• Coordinate timely resolutions and follow-up activities.
• Maintain confidential documentation of complaints, investigations, and outcomes.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational requirements for grievance management.
• Escalate complex concerns or potential legal issues when appropriate.
• Provide updates on significant patient concerns to hospital leadership.

Quality Improvement

• Track and analyze complaint and grievance trends.
• Collaborate with leadership to identify and implement process improvements.
• Assist with collecting, analyzing, and reporting quality and performance improvement data.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual performance improvement reports.
• Participate in initiatives that enhance patient satisfaction, quality, and safety outcomes.

Compliance & Incident Reporting

• Assist with the review and reconciliation of incident reports.
• Maintain data within electronic reporting systems and databases.
• Support compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and accreditation requirements.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient and organizational information.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.

Experience

• Minimum one (1) year of experience in healthcare, patient advocacy, customer service, risk management, quality improvement, or a related field strongly preferred.
• Hospital or behavioral healthcare experience strongly preferred.

Certifications

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• De-escalation Training: Handle With Care (HWC) certification.
