Patient Benefit Representative
Location: Cary, NC, USA | Onsite
COMPENSATION & SCHEDULE
• Pay: $20.00–$25.00 per hour
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 11:00 AM–8:00 PM
ROLE IMPACT
As a Patient Benefit Representative, you will help patients access prescribed specialty medications by coordinating insurance reimbursement, financial assistance, and communication between patients, healthcare providers, and internal teams. In this role, you'll play a vital part in improving the patient experience by ensuring timely access to treatment while delivering compassionate, accurate, and compliant support.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide exceptional telephone support to patients, providers, clinics, and healthcare professionals regarding patient support programs, reimbursement services, and financial assistance options.
• Accurately document all patient interactions and case activity in the Biologics Management Information System (MIS).
• Initiate and manage prior authorizations using clinical documentation through online portals, phone, and fax while following cases through final determination.
• Research and secure available copay assistance and patient assistance program funding, communicating eligibility and updates to patients and providers.
• Coordinate with benefits investigation and pharmacy teams to initiate prescription fulfillment or transfer prescriptions to the appropriate specialty pharmacy or hub provider when necessary.
• Identify and report adverse events (AEs) and product complaints (PCs) in accordance with established procedures.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support patient access and operational excellence.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification required.
• Excellent communication, critical thinking, multitasking, attention to detail, adaptability, and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple tasks, and thrive in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

PREFERRED SKILLS
• Experience supporting specialty pharmacy, reimbursement, or patient assistance programs.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Knowledge of insurance verification, prior authorization, and pharmacy benefit processes.
