    Job Description

    Provides assistance to professional staff in completion of patient-related tasks which include but are not limited to a) Assist patients with ADL's; b) Assist patients with their exercise (rehab); c) Assist staff to maintain a safe, clean environment on the IPU. Takes primary responsibility for tracking patient equipment. Shriners Portland is looking for a PRN Patient Care Assistant to join the team!

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Maintains a safe environment by following safety standard policies and procedures.

    • Demonstrates ability to set up overhead frame on beds and cribs. Familiar with traction setups commonly used on IPU.

    • Demonstrates ability to perform clinical skills taught during the current year. These include but are not limited to: temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, cast care, bladder scanning, dipstick, and guaiac testing.

    • Understands the importance of providing quality service to patients, coworkers and the public. Strives to exceed expectations through the application of good customer service skills, both internally and externally.

    • Demonstrates proper body mechanics when lifting/transferring patients and/or equipment without injury.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Certificate Nursing Assistant (CNA)

    • Basic Life Support (BLS)

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • High School Diploma/GED

    • 1 year Nursing Assistant

    Compensation is determined based on years of relevant experience and departmental equity.
