As a Patient Care Coordinator, you are the first point of contact for our patients and play a critical role in ensuring an exceptional patient experience from the initial phone call through discharge. In addition to providing outstanding customer service, you will coordinate scheduling, verify insurance benefits, obtain prior authorizations, and ensure patients are financially and administratively prepared for their care.

Job Description

As a Patient Care Coordinator, you play a vital role in creating an exceptional patient experience from the moment someone contacts our office through the completion of their treatment plan.

  • Verify patient insurance eligibility, benefits, deductibles, copayments, coinsurance, and coverage limitations prior to treatment.
  • Obtain and track prior authorizations, referrals, and precertification's to ensure timely patient care.
  • Communicate with insurance companies regarding authorization status, medical necessity requirements, and benefit questions.
  • Notify patients of insurance benefits, estimated financial responsibility, and any authorization requirements.
  • Monitor authorization expiration dates and approved visit counts to prevent interruptions in patient care.
  • Work closely with therapists and billing staff to ensure accurate documentation supports authorization and reimbursement requirements
  • Maintain thorough documentation of insurance communications and authorization activity within the electronic medical record.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of medical front office experience, preferably in an outpatient therapy, orthopedic, or physician practice setting.
  • Experience verifying insurance benefits and obtaining prior authorizations is required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR)
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities
  • Dependable, self-motivated, and adaptable to changing priorities
  • Positive attitude with a strong commitment to teamwork and patient-centered care
