Job Summary

The Patient Care Specialist position at Georgia Southern University Health Services supports student health and well-being through care coordination, patient navigation, and clinical and administrative support.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate patient intake activities, appointment scheduling, collection and management of medical records, and referrals to promote timely access to care and continuity of care
  • Assist with insurance verification, prior authorizations, and other administrative processes that facilitate patient care
  • Connect patients with appropriate campus and community resources based on identified needs
  • Support providers and clinical staff by facilitating patient communication and ensuring necessary documentation is available for patient care
  • Document patient interactions and care coordination activities accurately in the electronic health record
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with applicable federal and state regulations and institutional policies

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in a related field

Required Experience

  • One (1) year experience working in healthcare and/or community resource navigation

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Educational Qualifications

  • Masters degree preferred

Preferred Experience

  • Experience using an electronic health records system
  • Experience providing care management services

Proposed Salary

$19.15 - $20.00 per hour

This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.

  • Ability to manage a caseload of clients
