Clinical Personnel: • Strictly adheres to Standard Precautions when handling blood or body fluids. • Washes hands and other skin surfaces with soap and water thoroughly and immediately if contaminated with blood or other body fluids and before and after patient contact. • Dispose of sharps in puncture resistant needle boxes. • Utilizes appropriate barrier precautions. • Wear gloves, goggles, and surgical masks for all invasive procedures. • Adheres to isolation procedures and techniques at all times as applicable.
Adheres to the Safety Policies and Procedures, the use of MSDS sheets, Hazardous Material procedures, and Safety Codes.
Demonstrates adequate knowledge of Security issues, i.e., personal protection, protection of personnel and hospital property.

Performs and fulfills all HICS (hospital incident command system) responsibilities, assignments, tasks, and roles as directed and needed by the facility in times of emergency and/or disaster.

Job Summary:
Per Diem, Days Position Summary
A Patient Care Technician is responsible and accountable for assisting the RN or LPN in the provision of patient care and tending to the personal care needs of the patient as directed by the RN or LPN, as well as functioning as a unit secretary. Unit Secretary duties include, but are not limited to, the transcription and data entry of physician orders, retrieving patient information, maintaining patients data records, answering phones, taking and reporting messages, running errands, delivery and pick up of specimens and supplies, as well as ordering and restocking of unit supplies.
Education and Experience:
EDUCATION:
Minimum: High School Diploma or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE:
Preferred: Previous Patient Care Technician experience.
Certification/Licenses/Registration:
REQUIRED CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE/REGISTRATION:
Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A) or E.M.T. and documented evidence of successful completion of an accredited nursing school program.
Current American Heart Association BLS Certification
Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) - 90 days from hired date
