Learn About a Day in the Life of a PCT:

Responsibilities:

• A Patient Care Technician works alongside doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide direct patient care in a variety of healthcare environments.
• The Patient Care Technician plays a vital role in the healthcare delivery setting by improving patient satisfaction and influencing patient throughput. 

Qualifications:

Job Requirements:  

• Prior experience in performing EKG and phlebotomy procedures.
• 6 months in an Acute Care hospital setting.

• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

• Performs EKGs, phlebotomy, and blood glucose testing.

Preferred Job Requirements:  

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Patient care or EKG and phlebotomy certificate.
• Cardiac Credentialing International Certification a plus.
• EKG and Phlebotomy certifications/certificates.

Rate of pay is determined based on experience and education, and may include other pay components such as differentials and call pay based on role.
